Job Description:

About the Role

Our client, an international technical laboratory group providing materials testing for construction projects, oil and gas inspection and ISO certification, is opening its Syria branch. This is the branch's first technical hire: a certified radiographer whose qualifications support the company's licence application with the Atomic Energy Commission of Syria, and who will then run industrial radiography once the lab starts operating. Success is measured by a smooth licensing process, a safe and compliant radiography setup, and accurate, code-compliant inspection reports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the company's licence application with the Atomic Energy Commission of Syria, providing certifications and technical documentation
  • Prepare radiography procedures, radiation safety rules and emergency plans for the new lab
  • Advise on selecting and commissioning gamma radiography equipment, survey meters and personal dosimetry
  • Perform gamma-ray radiographic testing of welds on pipelines, pressure vessels, tanks and structural steel
  • Interpret radiographs and evaluate welds against the applicable codes (ASME, API 1104, AWS D1.1)
  • Prepare and sign inspection reports
  • Apply radiation safety controls on site: area cordoning, radiation surveys and dose monitoring
  • Supervise and train Level I technicians as the team grows

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in any field (required for the licensing process)
  • Valid RT Level II certification (ISO 9712, ASNT SNT-TC-1A or equivalent); certificates issued outside Syria are accepted
  • 3+ years of hands-on gamma radiography of welds in oil and gas, petrochemical, power or heavy construction
  • Completed radiation safety training for industrial radiography
  • Working knowledge of ASME Section V, API 1104 and AWS D1.1 acceptance criteria
  • Based in Syria or willing to relocate to Homs, and able to travel to sites in Baniyas and Latakia
  • Fluent Arabic; working English for reports and codes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Radiation Protection Officer qualification, or prior dealings with the Atomic Energy Commission of Syria
  • Level II in additional NDT methods (UT, MT or PT)
  • Experience setting up a new NDT lab or radiography department
  • Experience with digital or computed radiography

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary, based on experience
  • A founding technical role in the Syria branch of an international testing group
  • Room to grow with the branch as lab operations expand
