Job Description:

ABOUT THE ROLE

Our client, a UAE-based consumer electronics and mobile accessories brand, is opening its Syria operations: a flagship showroom in Al Sha'laan, a country office in Kafr Sousa, and a warehouse in the Adra Free Zone. They are hiring two Accountants: one based at the showroom, covering daily retail takings, petty cash and stock reconciliation, and one at the country office, covering dealer and corporate accounts, payables, collections and reporting. The core requirements are the same for both posts, and candidates apply once; the placement is decided at interview. Accounting runs on Odoo.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain the day-to-day books on Odoo Accounting: journal entries, ledgers, and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare and check invoices, receipts, and payment vouchers, and keep filing complete and audit-ready.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, cash balances, and supplier and customer statements on a regular cycle.
  • Handle tax and statutory requirements under Syrian regulations, keeping records in the form the authorities expect.
  • Reconcile stock values and movements with the warehouse and the showroom, and investigate variances.
  • Showroom post: close daily takings, reconcile point-of-sale against cash and card, manage petty cash, and report daily sales and any shortfall.
  • Office post: manage dealer and corporate accounts, run the receivables cycle and aging, chase collections, and process supplier payables.
  • Prepare monthly closing schedules and reports for country management and the regional head office.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of professional accounting experience in Syria, with full knowledge of local accounting practice, taxes, and documentation requirements.
  • Odoo Accounting experience (mandatory).
  • Degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Strong Excel: reconciliations, lookups, pivot tables, and working with large transaction listings.
  • Accurate, methodical, and able to explain a variance rather than adjust it away.
  • Fluent Arabic; working English sufficient to report to a regional head office and read supplier and import documentation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in retail, wholesale, or distribution, particularly electronics or mobile accessories.
  • Exposure to import costing, customs documentation, and free zone stock accounting.
  • Daily cash and point-of-sale reconciliation experience for the showroom post; receivables, credit control, and collections for the office post.
  • Experience reporting into a regional or foreign head office.
  • Payroll preparation experience under Syrian labour requirements.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Competitive salary, to be discussed based on experience.
  • A ground-floor role in a new market entry, with the finance function built from the first transaction.
  • Backing of an established regional brand with a full product range and marketing support.
  • Two posts open, so candidates are considered for the placement that fits them best.
